How comfortable are you with your theme?
I’m pretty content with mine–at one point I wasn’t. I knew what it was like to have an awful looking theme. It’s like having to go outside on laundry day (before you’re finished). Obviously your best looking clothes are being washed because you want to wear them again, so you’re stuck dressed in the least of important–you’re just not comfortable in your skin.
If you’re a blogger and you have a free theme, or a theme that’s not well designed you might just feel this way about your theme–I know I did at one point. You don’t feel comfort in sending serious traffic to your site because you’re worried of how it looks.
So what do you do?
You go out, and start reading as many tutorials and “how-to” books on Web design you can get your hands on. You join a bunch of forums in hopes of finding help, and you do, but it’s not enough. You’re just not satisfied and you don’t feel you have full control over your blog design.
So you buy a theme. Great. You bought a theme which looked extremely pleasing and clean–pure eye-candy. You get so happy you immediately feel a rush of confidence and begin writing some posts, hitting the social media scene to gain some traffic, blog, blog, blog etc.
And then . . . you see someone else using your exact same theme. Same: colors, font, shape, size, everything! The only thing different is the content and pen name.
To make matters even worse the blog has not only: been around longer than yours, has a higher PageRank, and receives more comments, but it also receives a whole lot more traffic then your blog does–so if anything you’re the copycat.
Ouch! Did your heart break? I know mine did.
What can you do? All you can do is go back to the forums, tutorials, and “how-to” books to find ways to tweak the new theme you just bought–you’re back to the drawing board basically. The only real solution is to pay for a custom designed theme that’s completely unique.
But that can be expensive. So again what can you do? Free themes are all over the place, so are the ones you have to pay for. It’s like there are only 2 ways out: either learn to tweak your own theme or pay for a custom designed theme.

I think the options panel is awesome and way ahead of the game.
It sure is Susan. Thesis is the only theme providing this kind of feature; it will pave the way for plenty themes to come.
