Be Your Own Boss – Make Money Online

July 10, 2008

Making money online is great. People come online to make money everyday. The opportunities of making money online are endless; you can make money through affiliate marketing, blogging, renting ad space, and PPC networks like Google AdSense.

Making money online is preferred over having a real job a million times over, and this is because of the many advantages making money online has over a real world job.

When it comes to having a real world job things can get quite complicated, and one can see themselves having no time whatsoever to spend on what really matters to them: family. To top it off who wants a boss?

If you’re planning on spending more time with the family you may want to consider alternatives outside of your 2-week vacation.

Alternatives such as: quiting your job and starting your own home business.

The advantages of working for yourself outweigh the disadvantages immensely. Being able to set your own schedule, spend more time with your family, and not having to commute to work everyday are all possible realities you can enjoy when you break free from the monotonous 9-5 work routine.

Being able to succeed without working for someone else is also a great accomplishment that you can look back at and be proud of.

The more people who decide to let loose and let the entrepreneurial spirit take hold of them, the more these people will achieve. Working for someone else keeps you bound to the limitations appointed to you; when you work for yourself there are no limitations.

Making money online has provided a way of comfortable living for many people, and the numbers continue to grow.

With more and more avenues of opportunities emerging from this great industry the Internet bestowed upon us, the more chances people have to make money doing something they already know how to do–which also builds the courage people lack when starting their online endeavors.

Looking at some of the things a real world job prevents us from doing you start to notice you really don’t have much time to yourself. If we examine how much time we spend at work, and how much time it takes us to get to and from work you will eventually start noticing your life practically revolves around it.

It’s a fact that we sleep 1/3 of our lives away simply because we sleep for 8 hours a day. Well the majority of us also work 8 hours a day, so there you have it; we sleep and work away 2/3 of our lives. Two-thirds . . . that’s a long time.

About 56 years of the 84 we average.

That leaves us with what? 28 years to do what we love? And that’s not even including the number of hours it takes to get to and from work everyday.

Sleeping away 1/3 of your life is fairly acceptable because sleep is necessary, but the other 1/3 of our lives which most of us spend working for someone else is certainly not necessary.

Being that it isn’t a necessity I’m going to go ahead and NOT spend an extra third of my life doing something that isn’t a MUST–besides I could use the extra 28 years.

I believe that a person should spend their life doing what they love to do the most; be it spend time with their families, travel around the world, or continue adding to their ever growing rock collection. It seems the majority of people are still under the impression that working for someone else saves them a lot of trouble they rather not go through.

e.g., getting their own health insurance, dental and medical plan. As well as the satisfaction of knowing they will be paid that predetermined amount of $ every week.

No matter how true that may or may not be the point is the benefits you do get from having your own business are beyond anything an employer can grant you–and seriously, getting your own insurance, dental, and medical plan isn’t such a hard task.

As far as that predetermined amount of money that you will receive every week, you can easily surpass it on your own.

Let’s look at the pros and the cons, shall we?

Be your own boss pros

  1. 28 extra years to do what you love
  2. no commuting to work–no rush hour, yay!
  3. no cranky boss
  4. spend more time with the family
  5. surpass current income

Be your own boss cons

  1. pay your own medical, dental, and insurance plan
  2. difficulty getting loans, no company backup
  3. unpredictable income

I’m aware they’re many more variables that contribute to whether or not something is a con or a pro. It can also depend on an individuals particular situation, but I think the pros and cons mentioned above are the most important, and the ones that most of us can relate to.

If I missed any you might feel are just as important then feel free to shout them out in the comment section.

In comparison, I feel the benefits of being your own boss outweigh the benefits of working for someone else–but that’s just me. Commuting to work is something I find extremely dreadful. I think that alone makes me never want to work for anybody.

So what do you think?

Can you handle the monotonous 9-5 routine (I sure can’t), or are you like me and can’t help but get dizzy and go hurling with motion sickness at the mere thought of it?
