Twitter Downtime Frustrations
June 10, 2008

I’m sure most of you know about the highly addictive and popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter. The medium allows you to post frequent, short messages letting your friends know what you are doing at the moment. Over a very short period of time twitter has become extremely popular, and almost everyone I know has become addicted to it. The medium pioneered a new exciting way for people to connect and socialize unlike any other site out there.
So what’s the frustration part about?
Well as much as we all love to twitter, we all hate the downtime. Its like every other day, the site is either down or really sluggish. With all the growth Twitter gained in such short notice it is understandable for downtime, and shortened bandwidth - but I must say it’s about time they got it together. Twitter is still quite in its infancy and is probably going through a lot of server upgrades, thus bringing “twittering” to a minimal. And for those of us who are “twiddicts” (”twiddict” = twitter addict) this is very annoying as our twits don’t get out to our friends.
How about other micro-blogging sites like Pownce and Plurk?
LOL. These sites are just as bad or worse. They were expected to do good, but constant downtime is proving them not up to par. A lot of people use these sites as an alternative whenever twitter’s downtime starts to kick in, but it only made people grow more with frustration.
So what’s the solution?
Thought you’d never ask! Well there is this great new site called Twiddict and it’s a way to use Twitter when it’s down. It works quite simple…Whenever Twitter is down simply go to Twiddict and post your update there. Twiddict then contacts Twitters API in order to submit your tweet when Twitter is back up and running.

Overall I think this is a good way to get around the Twitter downtime, and I definitely think it’s worth giving a try. If your tired of getting frustrated because you can’t tweet like I am, then I suggest you give Twiddict a go and see how you like it.
I would love to hear what you guys think about Twiddict, if you haven’t tried it check it out and give it a go next time Twitter is acting up again.
