Blogging Syndrome?
June 3, 2008
Over the last few years blogging has really taken off. With over 175,000 blogs being published daily according to technorati, it is obvious it is a fast growing industry. To me it seemed to come out of no where, like it just appeared. Blogging was all of a sudden all over the place. But let’s talk about something a little more interesting. Even though all these blogs are published under daily basis, the majority of them will not last 3 months. But why? Why do the majority fail at blogging and the minority succeed? What’s going on?
Most people don’t put enough effort in the beginning to see great enough results to motivate themselves to keep going. They just post, throw some ads up and expect to make money. Very little do the necessary things that are required when being a successful blogger. I’m talking about a hardcore blogger, that found passion in what he or she does. I’m talking about those with the “blogging syndrome.”
Those with the syndrome are the true successors of blogging. These people know what it takes to make a blog that people want to read. They know what it means to provide quality content to their readers, they know to be resourceful, informative and are experts in the topics they cover. They spend their beginner days blogging away 12 hours of the day in front of their computers making it happen.
Is this you…Do You?
1.) Love to Blog
2.) Have multiple blogs
3.) Post to each blog daily
4.) Always brain storm for new things to write about
5.) Write nothing but high quality original content
6.) Spend 10-12 hours a day blogging
7.) Spend half of those hours networking on social media sites
If you answered yes to 5 or more of these questions, then you my friend have “blogging syndrome”
Eventually these bloggers with the “blogging syndrome” will go from 12 hour days to 12 hour weeks. Over time the site will grow, and the blogger will be making a very decent amount of money simply from his blogs. By now he can hire a company or expert to concentrate on his search engine optimization services - Assuring PageRank is maintained and increasing.
This allows the “blogging syndrome” stricken blogger to concentrate more on quality content. Another added bonus is you also have money to pay someone to write original, quality content for you - Thus allowing you more time to focus on your other blogs your building, oh yes if you have the “blogging syndrome” you better believe you will have multiple blogs.
The difference between the blogger who succeeds and the blogger who shuts down his blog after 3 months, in my opinion is the blogger who mixed interest with passion in what he blogs about - leading to contracting the “blogging syndrome.” Which is not really a syndrome but a word I made up to represent the drive and determination it takes to be successful at blogging.
Do you have the characteristics mentioned above? Are you infected with the “blogging syndrome?” Maybe you aren’t but want to be…Let us know all about it!
