5 Steps to Becoming A Pay Per Click Expert
May 18, 2008
Has anyone ever heard of the 90/10 pay per click rule? Well for those who haven’t let me explain…What this (supposedly) means is that only 90% of pay per click success is enjoyed by only 10% of advertisers. These are the advertisers that know the In’s and outs of getting the most from your pay per click campaign. And when it comes to Google’s PPC network AdWords, this seems to be quite true. Not too many people properly know how to use AdWords to their maximum potential, so I’m going to break down 5 easy steps to help you become a better PPC expert.
This is assuming you already have an AdWords account if you don’t then that would be step one for you.
1.) Make an ad that calls to action. This is what I like to call “going fishing” it’s the old “hook em, and reel em in.” The hook would be the title, something catchy that would immediately grab their attention. Then you real them in with the “call to action” part, a perfect example of a call to action is “Get Your 2 Week Free trial.” Offering them something to make them want to continue by clicking on your ad after getting hooked with the catchy title.
2.) Use the “Dynamic Titles” feature by using the following code in your title “{KeyWord: Your Keyword}” (without quotations) This lets you use the same text in the ad body with a dynamically generated title that matches what the person searching was looking for, making your ad as relevant as possible. Keep in mind this is case sensitive, and “{keyword: your keyword}” will make it all lower case letters.
3.) State a benefit, as opposed to a feature. Stating what someone can gain as opposed to a feature (especially one that’s been heard 100 times over) can yield greater results, however this may not apply to every blog, try it on and off and measure your results.
4.) Use targeted keywords and not your site or company name. Many people state the company name and or website as keywords, avoid doing this. Instead use your niche keywords and target a good “Average Search Volume.” Check the previous month as well.
5.) Low cost high traffic keywords. To achieve this, target lower traffic keywords and/or common misspellings, and use the “Dynamic Title” feature mentioned above to generate highly targeted low cost traffic. Just type in the low cost and/or misspelled keywords in your keyword section, when you make your ads title use the Dynamic title - “{KeyWord: Your Keyword}” (without quotations) lets say the misspelled keyword is “makw money online” (strictly for example purposes not an actual common misspelling to my knowledge) then you would use the correct spelling in the dynamic title i.e “{KeyWord: Make Money Online}.”
In effect your keyword would be “mwke money online” but your ads would trigger results when someone types “make money online” saving you a whole lot of money.
