What’s Your Main Traffic Source?

May 7, 2008

Traffic can come from many places, where does yours come from? When making money online we all know traffic is the most important thing obviously, without traffic there is no income. The top source for most people is usually Google. Google usually accounts for up to almost 30%-40% of a sites traffic. Other search engines can be a good traffic source as well , but I usually only bother with the top 3 Google, Yahoo, and Msn.

Another great traffic source is article submission sites. Authors that submit to article sites often will gain a massive amount of incoming links from other sites using their articles, leading to a lot of traffic via referral. This creates a substantial and steady flow of traffic to your site, compliments of the user of your article.

Commenting on multiple high traffic blogs is a very effective traffic source and one I highly recommend. The comments you leave on other blogs will spark curiosity into the people who read them, leading to a possible referral visit. This surprisingly enough actually works, and very well might I add. The trick to this is finding the right blogs to comment on. What you want to look for is something as relevant to your site as possible, with a massive amount of traffic everyday.

Social networking sites, like StumbleUpon, FaceBook, Twitter, and Squidoo just to name a few are a great traffic source. Darren Rowse over at problogger.net had a poll last week on what were his readers main traffic source, and to his and my own surprise social networking site ranked #2 amongst the results.

With 15% of bloggers reporting their number #1 source of traffic being social networking sites, it shows the tremendous impact these sites have now compared to before. Be sure to use them to your advantage.
