Blogger Over WordPress?
May 4, 2008
There are a lot of blogging platforms out there for you to choose from like Blogger, WordPress, TypePad, and MovableType, just to mention a few, but which one is right for you? Which one is going to benefit you the most? The best of the platforms offer at least a couple features that are unique and other platforms don’t have, the top 2 I like and the only 2 I would really go with are Blogger and WordPress.
The reason I pick these is because they both are very user friendly and are easy for beginners yet at the same time can be used by a pro. Both platforms also let you go into the html and modify it to your likings, if your like me this can be very useful (I always modify any theme I use to my likings.) So why are some people saying they prefer Blogger over WordPress?
For example some people choose Blogger because of the free hosting. At Blogger you can start up your blog and even buy your own domain name (www.yoursite.com) registered through Google apps at $10 a year, or choose a sub-domain (www.yoursite.blogspot.com.) That’s a big plus over WordPress, if you wanted free hosting on WordPress you can’t have your own domain, you must get a self hosted WordPress blog and pay for your own hosting or be obligated to pick a sub-domain (yoursite.wordpress.com) which is unattractive for some people. The free hosting over at Blogger definitely has an edge over WordPress.
Another reason people use Blogger over WordPress is the complete total opposite. Some people go for the sub .blogspot since it’s been registered since ‘99 and it has some weight to it and can be easier to gain rank from. A lot of people, the ones that know Google is not very nice to new domain’s, do this because they know Google doesn’t rank them very well.
WordPress is more for the fancy blogs, so if your looking for more of a free way to maintain your site using your own domain, or even with a sub domain, Blogger would be the way to go both for price and SEO reasons. I personally have used both and feel Blogger is better for beginners that want easier exposure.
